401(k) Retirement Savings Plan - 100% company match after one year of service, on first 6% of associate contributions.

 

Employee Stock Purchase Plan - Quarterly WellPoint stock offerings with a discount of 15%.

 

Retiree Medical Spending Account (RMSA) - After age 40, the company contributes money each year to an RMSA, which will grow with interest. Upon retirement, you have access to the money in this account to help pay for your retiree health care premiums (medical, dental and vision).

Base Pay - Our base compensation system is market-driven and built to differentiate among individuals based on performance and competencies.

 

Merit Increases - Base pay merit increases are determined by your performance and pay relative to market data.

 

Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) - The company offers an AIP when the company does well and we meet or exceed our objectives. The target incentive opportunity is highly competitive and ranges from 5% to 35% of eligible earnings based on your job level. Actual payouts can be as much as two times the target in a given year when the company and your work group achieve superior performance levels.

Medical Coverage - Three plan designs: HMO/EPO, PPO and Health Reimbursement Account.

 

Dental Coverage - Two dental plans and a Dental HMO, where available, that offer preventive and basic services. The Enhanced Plan offers major dental procedures and orthodontia services.

     

    Vision Coverage

     

    Disability Benefits - Short-term disability at no cost to you if you are unable to work as a result of a covered illness or injury.

     

    Employee Assistance and Work/Life Program - Professional assistance with personal problems and child care/elder care referral services.

     

    Programs to Improve Your Health - Onsite health services and screenings; smoking cessation support; access to thousands of health and wellness articles; newsletters; tools; databases; health and fitness centers at many locations; and fitness club reimbursement up to $35 per month for associates without access to an on-site fitness facility.

Life/Work Balance

 

At WellPoint, we believe making a difference in people's lives is a practice that should extend well beyond the walls of our offices. That's why we provide a variety of benefits designed to help associates achieve optimum work/life balance, including:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) - Accrues on a per-pay period basis. You may earn 18-28 days based on your completed years of service.

     

    Holidays - Nine company-paid holidays.

     

    Bereavement - Up to three paid days.

     

    Jury Duty

     

    Military Leave - WellPoint pays the difference between your military pay and your base compensation for up to one year. You maintain medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits for one year.

     

    Adoption Assistance - WellPoint will reimburse up to $5,000 ($2,500 for part-time associates) per adoption for eligible expenses.
