James Hinkel

Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Jim Hinkel oversees all HMC financial functions including accounting, financial operations and billing, financial and management reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, budgeting, financial analysis and product pricing.

Before joining HMC in 2007, Jim held several executive positions with WellPoint, Anthem Health Plans of Virginia, Trigon Healthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia. Most recently, he was CFO of WellPoint’s Southeast Region, which included Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Virginia and Georgia. 

Earlier, Jim was a manager at the public accounting firm Ernst & Whinney. He also worked for American General Life Insurance Company and served four years in the United States Air Force.

Jim is a graduate of Troy State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, with a double major in accounting and computer science. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
